Screen of Shame — Privacy Policy

Screen of Shame (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a screen-time accountability app published by Shame Logic LLC. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Introduction

We respect your privacy. Screen of Shame is designed so you can log time on doom apps and meaningful apps, generate humorous accountability messages on your device, and optionally unlock Pro features. We do not sell your personal information.

2. Information we collect

• App usage you enter: Doom and meaningful app lists, quick-logged minutes, live session timers, daily budgets, and goals you configure. These values are stored locally on your device and power accountability roasts.
• Screen Time authorization (iOS): If you grant Family Controls / Screen Time access, Apple confirms authorization on your device. Apple does not allow apps to export raw per-app Screen Time minutes into our app for roasting. We do not receive a minute-by-minute Screen Time ledger from Apple. Optional future on-device Screen Time reports stay under Apple's privacy model.
• Roast text and history: Roasts are generated locally on your device from your logged usage and settings. Roast history is stored locally unless you clear app data or delete the app.
• Subscription status: Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store and RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of subscription status and an anonymous user identifier — not your payment card, Apple ID password, or billing address.
• App preferences: Settings such as reminder toggles and onboarding choices are stored locally on your device.
• Analytics (optional): If analytics is enabled for a build, Mixpanel may receive anonymized product events (for example app opens and feature usage). Roast text and specific app usage minutes are not sent as analytics properties.

3. How we use your information

• Evaluate accountability rules against the usage you log
• Generate sarcastic roasts and optional compliments on your device
• Schedule local reminder notifications you opt into
• Enforce Pro features through RevenueCat
• Operate, secure, and improve the app

4. Third-party services

• RevenueCat — subscription and purchase status (RevenueCat Privacy)
• Apple App Store — payment processing
• Mixpanel — anonymized product analytics when configured for a build (Mixpanel Privacy)

We do not use advertising trackers. We do not collect precise GPS location. We do not access your contacts, photos, or microphone. Screen Time data from Family Controls is not shared for advertising and is not sold.

5. Data storage and security

App preferences, logged usage, and roast history stay on your device. Subscription status is checked with Apple / RevenueCat over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Data retention and deletion

Local app data can be removed by deleting the app from your device. To request deletion of any server-side identifiers associated with purchases or analytics, contact us at the email below.

7. Children's privacy

Screen of Shame is not directed at children under 13. The app contains sarcastic humor. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Your rights

You can disable notifications in app settings or iOS Settings. You can cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription management.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
